Job Description

The Associate Director, Strategic Pricing & Contracting will develop, execute, and monitor the effectiveness of list price strategies and contract strategies across channels, including but not limited to, physician clinics, hospitals, commercial payers, 340B, the VA, Medicaid, and Medicare.


List Price Strategy (15%)
• Perform analysis and develop list price strategies aligned with brand objectives, competitive environment, and goal of ensuring access to the Ipsen US portfolio of products
• Present and gain approval at Pricing Committee

Contracting Strategy (25%)
• Perform analysis and develop contracting strategies aligned with brand objectives, competitive environment, and goal of ensuring access to the Ipsen US portfolio of products
• Develop contracting strategies across all channels including but not limited to, physician clinics, hospitals, commercial payers, 340B, the VA, Medicaid, and Medicare
• Present and gain approval at Pricing Committee

Contract Execution / Negotiation (25%)
• Partner with law department to develop contracts aligned with approved strategies
• Partner with account facing teams to negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with individual accounts, and execute contracts

Forecasting / GTN / Contracting Performance (35%)
• Partner with Finance and Analytics departments to forecast volume and discounts by channel throughout the various financial forecasting and budgeting cycles
• Collaborate with Finance to assess GTN impact of various pricing & contracting strategies in development
• Evaluate effectiveness of contracting strategies and recommend adjustments to maximize performance
• Provide customer contract performance updates

Limited travel required (approximately 10%)


Skills & Requirements


• Minimum 7 years in pharmaceutical / biotech, including 2 – 3 years in pricing and contracting strategy development, and 2 – 3 years in offer development.
• Contracting experience in the buy and bill setting preferred
• Working knowledge of multiple channels including but not limited to, physician clinics, hospitals, commercial payers, 340B, the VA, Medicaid, and Medicare
• Working knowledge of the impact of pricing and contracting decisions on government price reporting including but not limited to, ASP, AMP, and Medicaid Best Price
• Strong analytical abilities, and the ability to take incomplete information and develop impactful strategies
• Experience partnering with Finance to determine GTN impact of pricing & contract strategy
• Experience negotiating contract terms, assessing risk across various scenarios, anticipating customer & competitor response.
• Advanced analytical modeling skills and high proficiency with Excel.
• Experience with payers, providers, and intermediaries and their impact on product utilization
• Knowledge of current and future government policies and their impact on government & commercial payers, providers, and intermediaries.
• Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

• Ability to present and collaborate with senior level leadership
• Ability to take constructive feedback from multiple partners and incorporate into strategies that work across multiple, and sometimes competing, objectives
• Ability to work directly with customers to negotiate terms & conditions, and come up with appropriate customized solutions that meet the customer’s needs
