Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior-Vice President, Business Development, the Director, Business Development will seek out potential business opportunities through searching available databases and networking with other pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, scientific organizations, academia and related parties. The incumbent will evaluate opportunities primarily from a scientific and strategic point of view, then support further evaluation by the due diligence team, and assist in initial partnership, licensing and/or acquisition negotiations. Ultimately, the Director, Business Development will seamlessly transition the more developed leads to other colleagues/management for contract finalization, oversight and maintenance, while maintaining a continuous focus on new lead generation to ensure a steady, robust pipeline of business opportunities.

•Identify new technologies, products and capabilities externally aligned to business strategy and priorities.
•Partner with business leaders to execute transactions (including, licensing, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, co-development, co-marketing, or other structures).
•Support all aspects of business development process including target identification, business case development, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiations and transition planning.
•Support cross-functional teams and ensures teams are following the appropriate healthcare guidelines (ex. Quality and Regulatory).
•Work with Legal, Finance, Commercial and other functional groups to assess, review, and execute opportunities.
•Provide recommendations to senior leadership on new strategies, opportunities, and tactics. Advise on priorities as well as non-value added projects.
•Deliver oral and written presentations to the S-VP, Business Development to obtain approval for execution and funding of new opportunities.
•Build external relationships via trade shows, conferences, networking, and other new sources of information, intelligence, and insights.


BS/BA degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, etc.); advanced scientific and business degrees strongly preferred.
•Minimum 8 years of business experience required in the pharma/biotech field, dealing with corporate / business development (for example, licensing, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, divestitures, co-marketing, or other structures) is required
•Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical clinical development process associated with FDA regulations is essential.
•Strong negotiation, organizational, project management, and decision making skills are also required.
•The ability to effectively communicate to and influence a broad variety of business leaders, both internally and externally, is required.
•The ability to prioritize tasks, managing several projects at a time is required.
•Outstanding oral/written communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
•This role requires approximately 25% travel, both domestic and international in nature.
